Our intention is to create a place that is respectful to the dead, whilst offering a place of warmth and sanctitude to the living. A new welcome pavilion is the cornerstone to the development, creating a light and bright space for mourners and celebrants to gather before a ceremony. Two family rooms (one for each of the chapels) give a place of privacy for those who do not wish to socialise within the welcome pavilion.
A wildflower and sedum timber colonnade provides shelter and a logical way finding strategy from the entrance pavilion to each chapel. The two chapels respond to the brief, one providing a smaller more intimate ceremony, whilst the other catering for larger or more civic ceremonies.
A new courtyard of reflection provides a moment to pause after the ceremony and reorientates the visitor back towards the colonnade and their onwards journey.
