Sustainability

In addition to ensuring that every possible part of the original building was utilised, it became key during the design process that the extensive alterations should make as little environmental impact as possible.

Recycled insulation was used within the wall cavities and the installation of an air source heat pump plus photo voltaic panels control a consistent ambient temperature and power the electricity.

Family living

The client wanted to create a home that both family and friends would feel comfortable relaxing in.  Sliding doors retract into a hidden pocket making the entertaining area lead naturally into the garden blurring the line between inside and outside.

Relationships

Building a home should be an enjoyable process and as a main contractor, MAKE’s role is to take any concerns and pressure away from the client.

The proximity of the main site entrance at Church Lane to neighbours meant it was critical that the MAKE team focussed on building strong relationships within the community that would continue through until the clients moved into their new home.

“MAKE were very good at breaking down the decision-making process into manageable chunks.  I never felt rushed and the MAKE team were very helpful in increasing my knowledge so that I could make informed decisions.”
